It may have Beyoncé’s name on it, and be featured on her website, but the Black Parade Route—a directory of black-owned businesses to support on- and offline—was created by costume designer and wardrobe curator Zerina Akers. Released to mark Juneteenth (along with the first Beyoncé solo-track since Lion King) the list compiles businesses featured on Akers’ IG account @black.owned.everything—an ongoing, up-to-date directory “for when the trend is over”. Its website also allows majority black-owned businesses (51% or more) to register their business and be spotlighted on the account.
The full Black Parade Route spans everything from food to beauty to art to lifestyle, but here’s a list of every fashion designer featured—from well-known names like TELFAR and Pyer Moss, to jewellery designer Johnny Nelson and shoes and handbags by Brother Vellies.
