Welcome to your worst nightmare: Charlie Brooker’s cult series is back, and it’s high budget. That’s right, Black Mirror season five is returning to laptop screens as of June 5th, and, if the last four were anything to go by, it promises hours worth of absolute terror, dry humour and horrifying dystopian futurism. Sign us up (or log us in, Netflix.)
Our first real glimpse of season five comes in the form of three new trailers, featuring none other than overgrown pop princess Miley Cyrus donning a purple bob wig that’s very Natalie Portman-in-Closer, and Fleabag’s Andrew Scott as an emotionally-unstable taxi driver, who pulls a gun on his passenger (well, we can’t say we were expecting joy and laughter).
After the release of its interactive, viewer-controlled feature-length film Bandersnatch back in December, buzz around Black Mirror’s fifth season hasn’t only been heightened, and, by the looks of the trailers, we’re in for a twisted treat. But don’t take our word for it, see for yourself.
