UNCOVERING ASIA’S UNDERGROUND: HOW THOMAS BRAY SHAPES SHANGHAI’S BASEMENT PARTIES

Pushing the boundaries of the city’s creative scene right out of Shanghai’s basements, Thomas Bray of collective and agency Yeti Out is one of the pioneers proclaiming a more inclusive and connected underground landscape within the Chinese capital. Organising parties in hidden venues as well as putting on events for well-known brands like adidas, Prada, or Off-White, Thomas and Yeti Out are linking different parts of the pop-culture landscape to create an all-spanning place of freedom and expression. Taking to the streets of one of Asia’s most vibrant cities, Thomas talks us through how his journey has lead Yeti Out from London to Shanghai – and where he is heading from here.

Traveling through Taipei, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Seoul in the summer of 2017 and exploring each city’s vibrant underground scene, audio-visual agency deadHYPE captured a series of intimate dialogues they had with the creative minds they encountered – see all videos uncovering Asia’s underground here.
