Netflix has undoubtedly had its fair share of successful shows and movies. The streaming service has become somewhat of popcultural phenomenom. Despite the fact that it has been around for decades, it wasn’t until these past couple of years that Netflix had fully made itself at home on each of our TV- and computer-screens. This is not only to blame on the large variety of the site’s catalogue, but als due to their very own procutions, many of which have become some of the most critically praised and successful series out there.
August 11 will see the premiere of what we suspect to be a very interesting and entertaining approach to depicting a young man’s life on the autism spectrum. A topic very rarely brought to TV and/or talked about in general. Atypical follows the life of 18-year old Sam, a boy we (thusfar) don’t know much about other than the fact that he is autistic, wants nothing more than to see a girl’s breasts, and has an overprotective mother doing whatever she can to shield her son from all the bad in the world.
As to be seen in the clip below, Sam (Keir Gilchrist) and his mom Elsa (Oscar-nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh) are debating what good of an idea it is for Sam to be venturing out into dating.
We are intrigued, to say the least, and see lots of potential in this show and its cast.
