After releasing one of the best albums of the year, his debut record Process, performing at The xx’s very own string of festival-like gigs in Brixton earlier this year, and contributing to Drake’s incredible More Life, Sampha reappears in multiple headlines after sharing a preview of his upcoming zine Shy Light.
The 32-page piece is completely in color and was created in collaboration with acclaimed fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner, art director Jamie Reid, and LA-based photographers Jalan and Jibril Durimel. Shy Light draws inspiration from the same themes as Process, was curated by the singer/songwriter/producer himself, and features lyrics and images from his early life in London’s suburbs as well as from his roots in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Much like the album accompanying, Khalil Joseph-directed short film (also titled “Process”), this project is supposed to give further visual insight into the critically praised artist’s mind and muses.
You can download a preview-version of Shy Light via WeTransfer. The printed zine’s set to be published in June – we can’t wait!
