Lara Verheijden and Mark Stadman, together they form the photography duo Stadman Lara based out of Amsterdam. The two travelled penniless to the far land of New York City and used their financial disadvantage as their greatest advantage. Their intent for going to the Big Apple was to create new work but with no coinage for a make-up artist, a studio or even professional models they got creative and shot an editorial in their tiny “sweaty” Brooklyn Airbnb using models they scouted on Instagram. The “unglamour” of young struggling creatives paired with Sophie Hardeman’s latest denim collection serves a perfect example of what Lara and Mark as a duo are all about. Much like many others from their generations of creatives they just want to make things, be out there and seen by the world. Conventional glamour and fashion don’t make the cut and what we end up with is an altered sense of beauty and refinement. One that is far more relatable to those without a trust fund.
