There has been a whole lot going on in the fashion industry these last couple of weeks. The menswear-sector in particular has been causing quite the stir. Not only has Justin O’Shea, former fashion-buyer-gone-creative-director for Brioni just announced that he will debuting his very own menswear brand at Paris Fashion Week this summer, but Parisian luxe-streetwear label Pigalle has revealed it will be working with Italian cult-maison Missoni on Pigalle x Missoni. And finally, to top things off, we have an official word on those Hedi Slimane x Chanel rumors that have been messing with our heads for quite some time now. Find out everything you need to know right here:
Let’s begin with Justin O’Shea and his newly established, self-funded menswear-label SSS World Corp. This is the allrounded fashion-wunderkind’s return to the field of design after departing from Italy-based menswear- and leathergood-brand Brioni in October 2016. During SSS World Cup’s creation process, O’Shea has been and will continue working with Berlin-based magazine 032c. According to Information gathered by BOF, O’Shea will present the brand’s premiere-collection at Paris’ Spring/Summer 2018 menswear shows in June. Benny Robinson, who is friends and has worked with O’Shea, stated that “the label aims to unite a street aesthetic with luxury sensibilities”. All there is left to say at this point is that we are looking forward to seeing what fashion’s favorite Australian has come up with next.
In addition to these already exciting news, we have yet another very unexpected but hype-worthy collaboration in the works. In what seems to be an ongoing trend in the fashion universe, Paris-based streetwear brand Pigalle has announced via Instagram that it will be joining forces with Italian cult-label Missoni for an exclusive collaborative collection. While very surprising, this decision is keeping in tone with recent accurances concerning the fusion of high-end with streetwear-aesthetics. Louis Vuitton x Supreme and VETEMENTS’ collabs with the likes of Juicy Couture and Champion are only a few examples for rather unforeseeable cooperations. Though details are yet to be spilled, we are certain that Pigalle x Missoni will garner plenty of attention.
And finally, rumor HAD it that Karl Lagerfeld was secretly prepping Hedi Slimane, former designer for Dior Homme and Creative Director of Saint Laurent, for a position at Chanel. More specifically, a leading position in the house’s apparently upcoming menswear collection. These rumors have been circulating for quite some time now and it wasn’t until today that we knew once and for all what to think of these speculations. In a statement exclusively given to and released by WWD earlier this morning, Chanel (unfortunately) denies all of it. “The house of Chanel has no projects with Hedi Slimane” and “doesn’t work on the launch of a Chanel menswear collection.” Would’ve been too good to be true, anyways …
