IN LOVING MEMORY OF THE LATE ACTOR: WATCH THE TRAILER FOR THE HEATH LEDGER DOCUMENTARY

It’s been a just a little over 9 years since Heath Ledger, one of the most promising and talented actors of his generation, died in 2008 “resulting from the abuse of prescribed medications”, as The Guardian then reported based on the official statement by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of New York. Eventhough nearly a decade has gone by since the late actors untimely passing, the world still mourns what has to be one of the most tragic events in modern-day Hollywood’s history.

In honor of the Academy Award winning actor and to remind us of his spirit and legacy, Derek Murray directed a documentary for Spike TV titled “I Am Heath Ledger”. The film that is set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival later this month will focus on Ledger’s ups and downs, his life in- and outside of the business and feature never-before-seen footage, some of which was shot by none other than Ledger himself.

The film will also include interviews with and contributions by some of the Australian’s closest friends and colleagues, such as Ben Mendelsohn, Naomi Watts and Ang Leedirector of what is often considered Ledger’s international breakthrough: 2005’s “Broke Back Mountain”.

“I Am Heath Ledger” will premiere April 23rd at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York and will hit select movie theaters by May 3rd.
