MEET THE RUSSIAN DESIGNER INTERTWINING ART WITH ARCHITECTURE

Russian winters are known to be rather dark, extremely cold, and very harsh, making you constantly dream of those sweet summer days when live itself seemed to be just floating through space and time. Reminiscent of that feeling, Moscow-based designer Alisa Kuzembaeva took it to her S/S 17 collection “Half Holiday” to combine her reality and longings, focusing on dreams, self esteem, and whatever might just be possible with the right setting, or season, around you. Capturing her clothes in a rustic mountain hub, the Royal College of Art Womenswear graduate once again draws from her studies in Architecture and combines this structured approach with inspiration gained from the works of US-American sculptor Robert Morris who focuses on geometrical shapes and the relation of material and gravity. Together, these two worlds fuse into one texture-driven, silhouette-sculpting collection, sure to carry you through those long winters, dreamy summers, and everything in between.
