Jamaican-english bred Grace Wales Bonner definitely is one of the hottest up and coming designers at the moment. She only graduated from Central Saint Martin’s in 2014 and already won the British Fashion Awards’ title ‘Emerging Menswear Designer’ last year. Well, no big surprise if you ask us. The twenty-something likes to tell strong stories through her clothes that are inspired by her own background, history and cultural diversification.
In her latest lookbook, that is photographed by Edward Quarmby, she showcases her SS16 collection: a creative approach to the Siddi community, James Baldwin’s (an African-american author) signature styles and the touching story of Malik Ambar’s (a former slave who became one of the most important ruler’s in India) life. Sounds good and looks even better.
