Once again Vienna’s town hall hosted the sexiest and craziest fundraiser event of them all: Founded by Gery Keszler and Torgom Petrosian in 1992, Vienna’s Life Ball raises awareness and funds to significantly support people affected by AIDS or HIV. With this extravaganza being the biggest of it’s kind globally, Life Ball’s avid fanbase treasures this night not only for its good cause, but also for the inclusive attitude and fun approach to spreading awareness. Guests dressed according to the event’s theme – this year it was gold, glitter and yet more gold – do not only qualify for reduced-rate ticket prices but most importantly are allowed to show off their costumes on the red carpet, walking alongside A-list celebrities such as Dita Von Teese, Naomi Campbell or Catherine Deneuve.
Life Ball’s big fashion show first presented by Thierry Mugler followed by every major fashion icon such as John Galliano or Donatella Versace is one of the many highlights of the internationally broadcasted grand opening. This year Jean-Paul Gaultier hosted the prestigious main show – 20 years after presenting his legendary first Life Ball show in 1995. Needless to mention Austria’s most famous glam performer, song contest winner and general spokesperson of all things broad-mindedness Conchita Wurst was one of faces of this year’s event-
Artist and photographer Daliah Spiegel accompanied and documented the illustrious New York crew around performance artist and Life Ball regular Amanda Lepore while getting ready and hitting the stage in below’s one of a kind glimpse behind the scenes for INDIE.
