Rap musician, visual artist and fashion designer – Ryan Hawaii from South East London seems to be the younger and less embittered version of Kanye West. Not just because the creative output of the 19-year old boy is as cross-border as West’s, but because they’re spreading similar political statements, too. Whether it’s Ryan’s dark alternative hip-hop with deep intellectual lyrics or his iconic hand-made clothing line HAWAII which comes with crucial imagery and slogan art on it: his work is all about protest and youth rebellion. No wonder his first collection “Teenage Angst Forever” is inspired by the 70’s punk era – the last significant youth movement of our time.
