A Vetements x Tommy Hilfiger collaboration is finally on its way! After a meeting about half a year ago between Hilfiger and Vetements chief executive officer (and fashion world darling) Guram Gvasalia, and a phone call a couple of months ago, it looks like a release is imminent.

On Saturday, Hilfiger posted a photograph of a hoodie featuring the iconic Tommy Hilfiger logo alongside Vetements branding, adding “So excited!” in the caption.

In an interview with WWD this weekend, Hilfiger waxed lyrical about Vetements, the streetwear brand started by brothers Guram and Demna Gvasalia: “I was very excited. What they’ve done is quite genius. They have their own rule book. They do what they want and do it when and how they want.”

“The fact that a disruptive designer like Demna [Gvasalia] would want to do something with our brand is a tremendous compliment,” he remarked; Vetements emerged as the enfant terrible of the fashion world in 2014, putting on shows in unlikely venues, the basement of a seedy gay club and a run-down Chinese restaurant included. It went on to show at couture week as a guest member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture.

Hilfiger described the collection as “luxe streetwear,” a unisex capsule collection featuring hoodies, t-shirts, beanies, and socks, adding that “Nobody does it better than these guys.”

This is the latest high-profile collaboration for Vetements, which previously released collections with iconic brands Manolo Blahnik, Juicy Couture, and Canada Goose, as well as Levi’s, Reebok, and Alpha Industries. Not bad for a brand celebrating its 3rd birthday this year!
