It’s that time of the year again when the British Fashion Council announces who they will be awarding with financial aids, guidance, business training and more over the course of next year. NEWGEN is their program to support up-and-coming, emerging creatives from London’s fashion scene. Past recipients include Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane and J.W. Anderson. In this year’s 2017/2018 mix, we do see some familiar faces, such as the boys from COTTWEILER, Molly Goddard and Grace Wales Bonner from Wales Bonner.
Just announced! Congratulations to the 15 #NEWGEN recipients for 2017/2018: @mollymgoddard, @paulakn.rr, @sadiewilliams_uk, @martajakubowski, @halpernstudio, @richardmalone, @richardquinn1, @liam__hodges, @cottweiler, @kikokostadinov, @phoebeenglish, @walesbonner, @acoldwall, @nicholas_daley, @_charlesjeffrey. NEWGEN and other similar innitiatives like, for instance, the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund (past winners include Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang and many more) have very often proven to be some what of a kickstart for young designers aspiring creative independency and industry success.
If we weren’t sure before, then we certainly are now: These folks are forces to be reckoned with!
